Speech and Language
The goal of speech-language pathology services is to maximize each patient's communication and oral-motor functioning status so that he/she will have use of the most efficient communication and/or feeding program.
Focus of treatment includes improving the patient's auditory status, receptive and expressive language, articulation, voice, and fluency skills; improving cognitive skills that have been affected as a result of learning disability, brain injury, and/or other neurological disorders; facilitating functional communication skills, including augmentative /alternative communication systems; in relation to chronological age and developmental level; improving the patient's oral-motor and feeding skills in relation to chronological age and developmental level; and educating patient/parent/caregiver regarding speech-language development and/or appropriate communication intervention techniques.
