Motor vehicle crashes are the leading cause of death and disabling injury for children in the United States. Maryland Law requires that all children under the age of 8 years old must ride in an appropriate child car seat. Additionally, every child from 8 to 16 years should also be secured appropriately in every vehicle The Mt. Washington Pediatric Hospital (MWPH) Child Passenger Safety Car Seat Program (CPSCSP) addresses the priority area of Violence Prevention in the Community Health Needs Assessment, which aims to encourage a safe physical environment for children by installing and distributing car seats to MWPH families and residents of the community.
