If You Love Children, You'll Love Volunteering

Just how gratifying is it to help a child lead a happier, healthier life? Find out by joining the dedicated men and women who volunteer at Mt. Washington Pediatric Hospital. Our volunteers help support you and your child by providing a variety of services ranging from hosting a hospitality cart to providing clerical support to staff to providing comfort, companionship and play for your child.

As a pediatric rehabilitation hospital, MWPH offers inpatient and outpatient care for infants and children with rehabilitation and special medical needs. Rehabilitation is a journey, and one that is made better with a helping hand and a caring heart.

Our minimum age requirement is 16; however, any volunteers working directly with the patients must be at least 18 years old. Volunteers aged 16 or 17 are accepted for clerical positions and for positions in our outpatient waiting area. Along with meeting the age requirement, volunteers must pass a criminal background check, pass a drug screen, get a flu shot and get tested for tuberculosis. Lastly, we ask for an initial commitment of two hours per week (the same day and time) for one year or at least 100 hours of volunteering less than one year.

Volunteer opportunities are ideal for people who love children, have compassion and patience and are willing to give of themselves. Volunteering is also an excellent choice for students entering the medical field. Whether you are a student, a retiree or someone who works full- or part-time, we can accommodate your scheduling needs. Aside from the deep satisfaction of helping children, you'll enjoy special perks, including a free lunch or dinner in the cafeteria, free flu shots, free parking and an annual volunteer dinner and gift.
