An increasing number of children have become involved with sports. The rise of both neurological and orthopaedic injuries has also increased resulting in a need for specialized rehabilitation of these sports related injuries.

Mt. Washington Pediatric Hospital (MWPH) is a specialty and rehabilitation hospital, and is co-owned and co-operated by the University of Maryland and Johns Hopkins. The externships at MWPH are 12-month placements, although opportunities to engage in a 9-month externship may be available if space permits.

The specialist in pediatric neuropsychology is trained to diagnose cognitive and behavioral problems of the developing child as related to their neurological status.

MWPH offers comprehensive, expert evaluation and management of various degrees of hearing loss in infants, children and adolescents (ages 0-21). Early identification and intervention of a hearing impairment is crucial for the development and enhancement of communication skills.
