Baltimore, MD (November 9)- The Mt. Washington Pediatric Hospital (MWPH) Board of Trustees has announced two new members, Margaret R. Moon, MD, MPH, Associate Professor of Pediatrics, and Mark R. Marcantano, JD, Chief Administrative Officer at Johns Hopkins Children’s Center. They are replacing Tina Cheng, MD, and Ted Chambers, as the representatives from Johns Hopkins Medicine. The MWPH governing board is comprised equally of appointees from the University of Maryland Medical System and Johns Hopkins Medicine who are dedicated to furthering the mission of MWPH. The Trustees are leaders who are well respected in their fields with expertise to oversee matters of MWPH.

 

Margaret R. Moon, MD, MPH, is Pediatrician-in-Chief and Director of the Department of Pediatrics at the Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and Associate Professor of General Pediatrics and Adolescent Medicine. She is co-Director, with Dr. David Hackam, of the Johns Hopkins Children’s Center. She previously served as the inaugural Chief Medical Officer for the Children’s Center. Dr. Moon is a graduate of the Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine and the Johns Hopkins University School of Public Health, and holds a BS from Michigan State University. Dr. Moon spends her clinical time in the Johns Hopkins Harriet Lane Primary Care Clinic where she teaches residents in the acute care setting. Along with colleagues in the Program on Ethics in Clinical Practice, Dr. Moon is actively engaged in teaching clinical and research ethics to fellows, residents and students throughout Johns Hopkins Hospital and School of Medicine. Dr. Moon is a core faculty member of the Johns Hopkins Berman Institute of Bioethics. She serves as co-chair of the Johns Hopkins All Children’s Hospital IRB, is a member of the Johns Hopkins Hospital Ethics Committee and co-chair of the Johns Hopkins Hospital Risk Management Committee.

 

Mark R. Marcantano, JD, is the Chief Administrative Officer of Johns Hopkins Children’s Center. In that capacity, he administratively leads the 209-bed children’s hospital, Department of Pediatrics and Pediatric Clinical Network. Mr. Marcantano has a BS degree in Finance/International Business from the Stern School of Business at New York University as well as a Juris Doctor from Albany Law School of Union University. Prior to coming to the Johns Hopkins Children’s Center, Mr. Marcantano was the President and COO at Women and Infants Hospital/Brown University in Providence, RI. Mr. Marcantano has also held senior executive roles at top academic health science centers including Vice President for Ambulatory and Network Services at Boston Children’s Hospital/Harvard University as well as Executive Dean and COO at Albany Medical Center/Albany Medical College. Mr. Marcantano currently also serves as a Board Member of the Johns Hopkins Home Care Group, supports the Harriet Lane, Eudowood and Garrett Boards, serves as a member of the US News and World Report COVID-19 Planning Work Group and is an executive representative to the Children’s Hospital Association and to Solutions for Patient Safety.
