BALTIMORE, MD - Mt. Washington Pediatric Hospital (MWPH) is “where children go to heal and grow,” but at the upcoming fifth annual Storybook Gala, the crowd will also celebrate “Where the Wild Things Are.” Last night, gala chair Heather Hoffman announced the colorful theme and noted that the event will be held on May 12, 2018 at the Marriott Waterfront Hotel. Hoffman also shared that Ruth’s Chris Steak House will return for a third year as the gala’s Presenting Sponsor.

"The community support for the Storybook Gala over the last four years has been remarkable. MWPH is such a special place where children and their families can receive a wide-range of services, some not available anywhere else," said Hoffman who has served on the Storybook Gala committee for the last two years, and is an Administrative Vice President at Wilmington Trust. "I am honored to work with such a dedicated group of committee volunteers to make this year a wild success for everyone."

Last year’s Willy Wonka-themed gala was attended by more than 600 guests and raised $338,000. Overall, the Storybook gala has raised nearly $1 million in four years. Other highlights of the 2017 Gala included two special patient stories (Kayleigh and Devan), as well as a special welcome message from actress Robin Wright. Additionally, hundreds of children’s clothing items were collected for the MINI for Minis campaign, sponsored by Priority 1 Automotive Group.

“We will host our fifth annual gala to benefit the children and families we care for each and every day,” said President & CEO, Shelly Stein. “Over the years, this event has helped our hospital acquire necessary medical equipment, engage new supporters and celebrate the wonderful achievements of our staff. This year, we are fortunate to have Heather Hoffman serve as our chairperson. We are confident that she will lead this event to new heights.”

The 2018 Storybook Gala will include dinner and dancing, a silent auction and “Fund-A-Wish” appeal and much more fun with its wild theme. Community events leading up to the May gala will raise excitement and support for the major event.
