23nd Annual Covenant Guild Walk of Love - Recap

The rain and chilly temperatures couldn't keep dozens of enthusiastic participants from taking part in the 23rd Annual Covenant Guild Walk of Love on Sunday, April 25th.

This year's 3.5 mile walk from Pikesville High School to the Mt. Washington Pediatric Hospital entrance on West Rogers Avenue attracted families, couples, volunteer groups and other folks of all ages.

After the walkers arrived at the finish line, a ceremony was held recognizing Covenant Guild's efforts to help our non-profit hospital further its mission: to provide high quality, specialized care to the area's most vulnerable residents -- its children.

Emcee Eddie Applefeld introduced MWPH President and CEO Sheldon Stein, who thanked Covenant Guild for walking to support the hospital's mission for 23 years. “23 years- that's a lot of walking, why don't you have a seat,” Stein joked.

On a serious note, Stein also showed appreciation for Covenant Guild's continued support over the years, raising more than 200 thousand dollars for the hospital's patients and programs.

In addition, Dr. Richard Katz, Vice President of Medical Affairs, thanked the walkers and the Guild for their continued efforts in helping children of all ages get the treatment they need.

At one point, Baltimore City Council Member Rochelle "Rikki" Spector presented the Covenant Guild with a city proclamation, acknowledging the group's charitable efforts.

Covenant Guild, Inc., established over sixty years ago, is a non-profit philanthropic organization comprised of approximately 400 women.
