Sensory integrative processing disorder is a neurological disorder causing difficulties processing information from the senses. Sensory integration is the ability to take information from the senses of touch, movement, smell, taste, vision and hearing and to combine the information with prior knowledge and memories. Children who suffer from developmental delays, low muscle tone, dyspraxia and attention deficits and/or balance problems may benefit from therapies that incorporate sensory motor integration. This approach may help the child with motor planning, organization and motor development.
