What is Acquired Brain Injury?
An injury to the brain that has occurred after birth and is not hereditary, congenital, or degenerative. An acquired brain injury includes injuries caused by trauma of external physical force, also known as traumatic brain injury.
Acquired brain injury also includes internal insults or damage to the brain caused by tumors, blood clots, strokes, seizures, infections, and lack of oxygen to the brain.
