Developmental Evaluation Clinic

The Developmental Evaluation Clinic at MWPH is designed to treat children between the ages of 0 - 23 months who are known to have biologic or environmental factors that place them at risk for developmental delays. These factors include, but are not limited to, prematurity, perinatal asphyxia, congenital infections, genetic syndromes and exposure to illicit drugs.

All evaluations will be seen by a developmental pediatrician and if necessary a multidisciplinary team consisting of a psychologist, speech and language pathologist, physical and occupational therapists.

A combination of formal screening tools, clinical observations and the use of multiple sources for information will be used to generate a diagnostic impression and recommendations for treatment that will be sent to the referring source and family. When appropriate, a parent conference will be held to present findings and allow for feedback.

Patients will be followed every six months after their first visit until discharge or transition into the Pre School Development Clinic.

This clinic is available only at our Prince George's County location.
