What is the Center for Nutritional Rehabilitation?
The Center offers a coordinated, holistic approach to management of disorders with a nutritional component. The goal of the Center is to provide a coordinated approach to care for patients with any issue or illness that has a nutritional component.
Who is it for?
Children with any disorder or issue that has a nutritional component, such as excessive weight gain or loss, infant growth and nutrition issues, metabolic issues such as diabetes mellitus, eating disorders such as binge eating, immunologic issues such as food intolerances, and developmental issues such as cerebral palsy that affect nutritional status.
What does the evaluation entail?
At the Center for Nutrition Rehabilitation (CNR) clinic, your child will see a Nurse Practitioner or Physician and a Registered Dietitian to formulate a treatment course. Your child may either then be referred to additional specialty clinics such as Weigh Smart®, Endocrine or Feeding if appropriate, or he or she will continue to be seen in the CNR clinic for further work-up. Your child may be referred to other specialists if there are multiple services needed and/or there is not a clear diagnosis. Your child's progress will be assessed by scores on a nutritional scale.
What will insurance cover?
Your insurance benefits will be checked prior to your first visit. While you are waiting for your appointment, you should contact your health insurance company to verify coverage for services. We verify your benefits as a courtesy, but it is your job to know your benefits. Because insurance benefits can change; we wait until one week before your scheduled appointment to check benefits. If your insurance changes or you have authorization questions for us after speaking with your insurance company, please contact Dawn Clay in our authorizations department. You may be able to qualify for financial help if you if your insurance does not cover part or all of the clinic costs. Please ask us if you need help.
