The mist hovered over the greens as players arrived early on the morning of October 6th, providing a fitting welcome for the more than 100 golfers who made the drive up to Bulle Rock, in Havre de Grace, a made-to-order golf course for a picture-perfect fall day.
The occasion was the annual Melvin and Gisel Mora Charity Golf Tournament, a wonderful event held to benefit the programs and patients of Mt. Washington.
The Mora's quintuplets, now eight-years-old, were treated here at Mt. Washington after they were born prematurely. Ever since, the Moras have been staunch supporters of the hospital, raising money through their namesake tournament and other events.
"We will always support Mt. Washington, one way or another," said Gisel Mora.
Besides her husband, the longtime Oriole third basemen, other baseball stars on the links included center fielder Ben Davis, as well as players from the 1970s and 80s like former all stars Al Bumbry and Ken Singleton.
Former Governor Robert Ehrlich also mingled with the crowd during the event, which included a lunch buffet and silent auction.
"Mt. Washington is such a wonderful hospital -- they do great work," he said.
Although no one had a hole-in-one to win the Lexus or Cartier watch, all seemed to appreciate this fabulous event. A big thank you goes out once again, to all of our wonderful supporters.
